Another November Holiday You Need To Know About
On November 25th, many American families are going to be celebrating Thanksgiving. The day will be spent with family and friends enjoying many delicious foods, such as turkey, stuffing, and pumpkin pie. National Flossing Day
Many of our patients have expressed their excitement about celebrating Thanksgiving, which takes place very soon. Holidays looked a little different last year, so many people are looking forward to the opportunity to see family and friends and experience their traditions. While we do enjoy Thanksgiving, we are excited about the special day that takes place on November 26th — National Flossing Day. This special day was originally established in 2000 to create awareness and educate patients about the importance of flossing for maintaining healthy teeth and gums.
Important Reasons to Floss
If you were to evaluate your oral hygiene routine, do you floss once a day? The American Dental Association recommends flossing once a day, and we know not as many of our patients floss as regularly as they should. We want to share some important reasons why flossing is just as important as brushing your teeth:
Helps Eliminate Bad Breath
If you find that you are constantly reaching for mints and chewing gum, try using dental floss. Food trapped between your teeth can cause an odor.
Prevents Tooth Decay
When food and sugar remain on the teeth, decay begins to develop. If cavities and decay remain untreated, it can lead to bad breath as well as pain and other problems.
Helps Prevent Gum Disease
Using dental floss helps promote healthy gums. When bacteria and plaque build up along the gumline, gum disease and infection can begin.
