Does Dental Technology Matter? (Hint: Absolutely!)
When you walk into our office, dental technology is probably not the first thing on your mind, or even on your mind at all. However, the technology we use during your appointment is an important part of what makes your experience in our office as pleasant as it is. Continue reading to discover why dental technology is important.
Your Experience
Our team cares about your experience while you’re in our care. We want you to feel safe and comfortable. We also want you to be confident that you’re receiving the best dentistry has to offer. The technology we use to examine and treat you plays a large role in all of that.
Dentists and researchers all over the world work hard to advance the field of dentistry, and when breakthroughs in treatments or tools happen, it benefits patients like you. Advancements in dental technology allow us to work more quickly, safely, and efficiently when you need a cleaning, restoration, or cosmetic treatment. That means you spend less time in the dental chair, and the time you do spend with us is more comfortable. New dental technology also shortens recovery and healing time, so you can get back to your routine sooner.
Digital: The Tech That Does the Most
You may have noticed that nearly everything we do in our office is digital. From our scheduling system to X-rays and impressions, digital technology has revolutionized almost every aspect of dentistry.
Digital X-Rays: Modern digital X-rays emit up to 90% less radiation than conventional film X-rays, which is safer for you, your family, and our team. The images we capture with digital X-rays are high resolution, showing us tiny details film cannot capture. We can also display the X-rays instantly on a computer monitor to show you exactly what we see and help you understand what is happening in your mouth. Your dentist can enlarge the images without compromising the resolution, allowing them to detect problems in the earliest stages, when treatment is typically easier on you and more economical.
Digital Scanners: If you’ve ever had a dental impression taken, you are familiar with the goopy putty in the tray that you have to bite into. With digital technology, you don’t have to do that anymore! Instead, we use a small, handheld device to scan your teeth and gums. The scanner produces high-resolution, 3D images that we can use instead of a plaster mold to create custom clear aligners, mouthguards, nightguards, and more. As you might guess, a digital scan is more accurate than a plaster mold, so anything we create based on your scans will fit perfectly. Additionally, we can use the scans to simulate your smile results even before you start treatment!
Our Commitment to You
We will always put your comfort first, and the digital technology we use in our office is one way we do that. In fact, all the technology we use to make your experience better is worth the investment in our book. It’s all part of our promise to provide you with exceptional care.
