It is important that our patients visit our office for regular checkups, not just when there is a problem or concern. Even if you are very thorough and particular when brushing and flossing your teeth at home, our staff is trained to care for your teeth and check for issues that might not be apparent to the naked eye. While we do clean your teeth and remove any lingering bacteria and tartar, we also inspect for any areas that may become a problem in the future. We monitor areas that may be developing decay and compare the state of your teeth from your prior visit. This is also why we are diligent with X-rays to thoroughly inspect your teeth. The sooner we can diagnose a problem, the less discomfort and expensive dental bills you will incur.
We Do More Than Clean Teeth
While cleaning and polishing your teeth is important, we also inspect your mouth for more serious conditions that can develop. During a hygiene examination, we check for gum disease as well as oral cancer. If these conditions go undetected, they can become real health concerns. Gum disease that remains untreated can lead to more severe problems such as diabetes and heart disease, while untreated oral cancer can eventually be life threatening.
